Prince George RCMP needed to be sharp this morning after hearing multiple reports of stolen Ford vehicles over the past two weeks.
According to police, just after 5 a.m., RCMP received a report of a stolen Ford F-250 truck from a residence on Nation Crescent. At 9 p.m., an officer observed a similar vehicle near 5th Avenue and BC Hwy 97. By the time the officer was able to safely turn around, the vehicle was gone.
Minutes later, police received multiple reports of a dangerous driver in the same Ford F-series truck near the Simon Fraser Bridge. The driver proceeded across the bridge where it collided with another truck near the entrance to the BCR Industrial Site.
The suspect driver and passenger exited the damaged truck and attempted to take another occupied vehicle, but were unsuccessful. The two suspects fled on foot in different directions and, after a brief foot chase, were both arrested.
A 31-year-old and an 18-year-old man are both in custody. The vehicle they were in was confirmed to be the one stolen from earlier today. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The entire incident from the time of the first call to the arrest took just 10 minutes.
Prince George RCMP would like to thank members of the public who called in and put a stop to the thieves.
