Prince George resident ‘dumb-founded’ after $131K lotto win

A significant lottery win had Anthony Gartner feeling a roller coaster of emotions.

The Prince George resident took home $131,378.20 from the Dec. 3 Lotto Max draw.

“I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry… I felt kind of dumb-founded that I actually won,” he recalled of his initial reaction. “Words can’t describe this feeling.”

His wife had told him that someone in Prince George won a major prize, so Gartner went to the gas station to check his ticket.

He scanned it a few times before taking it to the clerk who simply said, “congratulations!”

Gartner first shared the news with his sister, who congratulated him as well before she said: “By the way, I need a swimming pool.”

We don’t know if she’ll get her pool, but Gartner does plan on buying his brother’s car that has been in the family for 57 years and he’s also looking into a new home.

The winning ticket was purchased from the Walmart on Southridge Avenue.
