UPDATE: PG RCMP appealing for footage of fatal motel fire

(UPDATE: July 9 @ 10:05 am) - The investigation into a fatal fire at a Prince George motel is ongoing.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have video or still images that were taken within a two-block radius of the motel between 7-9 am on Wednesday.

If you can assist in that matter, you're asked to contact the Prince George RCMP detachment by calling 250-561-3300.

The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate to determine who died, as well as how, where, when and by what means they came to their unexpected deaths.

(Original story: July 8 @ 3:15 pm ) - A fire at the Econo Lodge City Centre Inn in Prince George has claimed the lives of three people.

Emergency crews were called to the scene shortly before 9 am today.

When they arrived, a portion of the building was on fire and the police quickly closed off the area to traffic and assisted evacuees while firefighters tackled the blaze.

Eventually, they successfully extinguished the fire, but at 12:30 pm, fire personnel found three dead bodies inside the burnt motel.

Police have learned from fire personnel that the fire appears to be suspicious, but the investigation is just beginning and a cause has not been determined yet.

The RCMP’s serious crime section has been called in to lead the investigation.
