A handful of kittens are doing significantly better after being found in a garbage can in Langley.
Dubbed the ‘Sesame Street’ kittens, the little animals spent two days piled on top of each other in the bottom of a trash bin, according to a statement posted on Tinykittens.
“As you can imagine, they were cold, filthy, terrified, and soaked in their own urine,” reads Tinykittens Facebook page. “They were crawling with fleas, and have very bloated tummies which is usually indicative of intestinal parasites. They smelled terrible.”

They were discovered by a garbage collector who heard their meows and quickly rushed them to the Langley Animal Protection Society where they were given baths and treated for fleas.

According to the Langley Animal Protection Society, about 80,000 kittens are born each year in Langley and 75 per cent of them will die within six months if they’re not rescued. The other 25 per cent will get pregnant as early as four months old.

To help with that, the organization is doing a Pregnant Cat and Kitten Roundup where residents are encouraged to bring in any pregnant cat or kitten that is under six months.
