On July 31st, Hedrich was going west in a Chevrolet Cavalier on Highway 1 in the area known as Hoffman Bluffs. RCMP say that the car crossed over the centre line for unknown reasons and hit a charter bus head on. The tour bus had 57 people onboard, including the bus driver.
Hedrich was killed at the scene. On the tour bus, the most serious injury was to the driver, who was taken to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The hospital also received the 56 passengers, who were tourists from Korea. Interior Health said there were 20 other people with non-life-threatening injuries and 36 people with no injuries.
