Rock Creek Fall Fair to Go Ahead as Planned

The annual Rock Creek and Boundary Fall Fair will go ahead as planned as the fairgrounds have been untouched by the recent wildfires.

The 70th annual event will take place on September 19th and 20th as originally planned.

“Our hearts and hands are with our friends and neighbours right now, but we are still working away to bring about another ‘best ever’ Rock Creek Fall Fair,” said the association in a statement. “Our line-up of entertainment and activities has not changed.”

The fall fair is a yearly reminder to locals and visitors about everything Rock Creek has to offer, and the organizers of the event say this year will be no different. The fair has remained true to its roots over the years and showcases the rural lifestyle. Livestock husbandry and horsemanship, field and garden produce, culinary and handicrafts, and art and photography are just a few of the things visitors can expect to see at the event.

The announcement that the fair will go on as scheduled is welcome relief to the community which was hard hit by the recent wildfire. The Ponderosa Music Festival recently had to cancel the event due to safety concerns for attendees. The Rock Creek wildfire has grown to 4,534 hectares in size and is currently 75 per cent contained. The fire was discovered on August 13th and officials have confirmed that at least 30 homes were damaged or destroyed as a result of the fire.

The fall fair is organized almost entirely by volunteers, and this year, donations going towards relief efforts will be collected during the event. For more information about the fair or to volunteer please click here.
