Police in 100 Mile House are investigating after a 37-year-old woman was found dead on January 4th.
Officers went to check on the welfare of the woman after she failed to show up for work, which co-workers described as out of character. When police arrived at the home in the 6000 block of Norman Road they found the woman dead. The victim has been identified as Vesna Dumstrey-Soos.
Police have not said how the woman died, but are treating her death as suspicious and a suspect has been taken into custody. The North District Major crime unit and Air Services located a 46-year-old 100 Mile House man in the afternoon on January 6th. Charges have not yet been laid against the suspect.
This is the second time tragedy has struck the Dumstrey-Soos family. In May 2007 Vesna’s sister Tanya was killed by a Bengal tiger named Gangus. The 32-year-old was standing near the tiger’s cage when he grabbed her legs. Gangus was owned by Tanya’s boyfriend and was housed at the Siberian Magic exotic animal park in Bridge Lake, B.C.
