Update 11:17 am: Vancouver Island University posted on Facebook that the campus is all clear and the emergency has been lifted.
Original Story: According to a statement on Twitter from Vancouver Island University, the Nanaimo campus is currently under lockdown.
KelownaNow has contacted the Nanaimo Police, who confirmed a lockdown is in progress but couldn’t release further information at this time.
Students have been tweeting from the campus, along with the Students' Union.
An emergency has been reported in B305 at #VIU, shelter in place and wait for further instructions. Unsafe conditions may exist outside.
