The B.C. town of Lumby has a lot to celebrate Sunday morning after being named one of the top two finalists in Kraft Hockeyville 2016.

Lumby was the only B.C. town to make the top 10 list and now the Interior community will have the chance to host a Preseason NHL game.

Lumby is up against Saint-Isidore, Quebec for the grand prize. While both of the top two communities will receive $100,000 in arena upgrades, the community who will host the NHL game will be announced April 2nd.

Voting is now open in the face-off between the east and the west. From Sunday, March 20th at 6:00 a.m. to Monday March 21st at 9:00 p.m., the town of Lumby is encouraging everyone to get out and vote for their community.

Thanks to the people who voted for Lumby to be in the top two, the Pat Duke Memorial Arena will received some much needed upgrades. As the centre of hockey in the community, the arena is in need of a bigger girls change rooms, more spectator seating, a new storage unit, and new floors.

Kraft Hockeyville is now in its 10th year and is a way to celebrate local communities and hockey.

“We know that communities build hockey and hockey builds communities,” reads a statement from Kraft Hockeyville.

“And where we all come together is our local arena. Lumby and Saint-Isidore are true examples of this and the power of our national game.”
