Maddy Scott’s family still searching for answers after five years

For the Scott family of Vanderhoof, B.C., May 28 will be a day they will never forget.

It was five years ago to the day the Scott’s daughter, Madison attended a party and never returned home to her parents.

Despite years of vigorous and in-depth searchers for the young woman, Maddy has never been found.

On Friday, May 27, 2011, Madison Scott attended party at Hogsback Lake, a forest service campsite located approximately 25 kilometres south of Vanderhoof. There to celebrate a friend’s birthday, police said Maddy parked her white 1990 Ford F1 pick-up truck and pitched a tent so she could camp with the new group of friends.

According to RCMP, at the end of the evening, Maddy was left on her own in the tent while everyone else left the part by 4 a.m.

Between the hours of 4 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., police believe something happened that lead to Maddy’s disappearance. Foul play is suspected, but Maddy remains missing.

To support the on-going investigation, the RCMP have released a video showing a re-enactments and information the public need to know to help the investigation.

“We know someone out there knows something about the disappearance, but either won’t, or can’t tell us what happened to Maddy,” said lead investigator of the North District Major Crime Unit, Cst. Tom Wamsteeker.

“We are asking any individual who has information and has not already come forward to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.”

The Maddy Scott family team will be holding their annual Poker Ride at Hogsback Lake Saturday, encouraging member s of the community to come and participate.

“The Scott family would like to thank the community and RCMP for their continued support in their search for answers regarding the disappearance of Maddison Scott,” said North District RCMP Cpl. Dave Tyreman.
