It’s time to snap some nature pictures and have them featured by BC Parks on social media.
The Government of British Columbia is getting trendy and will be using Instagram to convince people to spend time at provincial parks.
BC Parks has made an Instagram account and every week will be featuring pictures taken by people in the province.
Mary Polak, Minister of Environment, said she knows people love to capture moments, so the government is playing that up.
"We know people are passionate about their parks, and love capturing special moments with family and friends,” Polak said in a press release.
“We hope this helps encourage people to get outside this summer and enjoy nature in one of B.C.'s many beautiful provincial parks."
The snapshot could be of your favourite spot, a beautiful hiking trail, a stunning waterfall or a magical sunset. To have your picture featured on the BC Parks Instagram, hashtag #BCParks.
British Columbia has the highest percentage of land base dedicated to protected areas in all of Canada. Each year, provincial parks receive over 21 million visits.
