Hemlock Resort rebrands as Sasquatch Mountain Resort

Hemlock Resort is no more.

Located just north of Chilliwack and a three and a half hour drive from Kelowna, the former Hemlock resort has rebranded as Sasquatch Mountain Resort.

“We are pleased to announce, effective March 1st, 2017, we will be rebranding with the new name, Sasquatch Mountain Resort,” said a press release from the resort’s GM.

The name was chosen because the sasquatch is the primary caretaker of the Sts’ailes’ Traditional Territory, where the mountain is located and “an integral aspect of the Sts’ailes’ identity and spiritual beliefs.”

Sasquatch Mountain Resort is located about 25 kilometres from Sasquatch Provincial Park.

As part of the rebranding, the resort also unveiled a new logo to go with the new name.

The logo was chosen through a contest where designers from all over the world could submit designs.

In total, 79 designs were submitted and the winning logo was created by a German-based designer.

The mountain says there will be no disruptions in their day to day operations and children under 12 will ski free between March 15th and 26th (with a donation to the food bank) to celebrate the new name.

With a new name and logo, the resort continues its major $1.5 billion expansion that was announced in 2015.

The expansion, which will take place over the next two decades, are expected to turn the resort into a unique all-season resort.

The final product would be nearly twice the size as Whistler-Blackcomb, making Sasquatch Mountain Resort a prime mountain destination in B.C.
