A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck off the coast of Vancouver Island this morning near Bamfield
According to data from Earthquakes Canada, the quake occurred 29 km south west of Bamfield at about 1:30 pm.
The earthquake had a relatively shallow depth of 38 km and is belived to have been lightly felt in Greater Vancouver, but there are no reports of damage.

In December, BC's coast was rattled by a string of nine seismic events including a magnitude-6.2 tremor recorded on Christmas Eve.
The coast had been quiet until Monday when a 3.8 quake was recorded near Haida Gwaii, followed Friday's activity.
