BC milk company under investigation

The company, Agropur Cooperative (Est. 4415) is recalling Island Farms, Lucerne and Natrel brand milk products from stores for possible contamination of harmful materials.

On Friday afternoon, RCMP officer Tammy Douglas told KelownaNow that an investigation of Agropur Cooperative milk products has begun.

"We have now initiated an investigation coordinated by Vancouver Island District GIS (General Investigation Section)," said officer Douglas. "It is not clear at this time whether the potential presence of harmful extraneous material, in products only sold and distributed in BC, is accidental or criminal."

The initial investigation began after RCMP received a number of complaints from around Vancouver Island over the last few weeks related to Agropur Cooperative milk products.

"Our coordination efforts are reviewing the complaints and we will continue to work with the company and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency," said officer Douglas.

The following milk products have been recalled in B.C. and should not be consumed.
