An 18-year-old is in some hot water after being caught going well over the speed limit in the Fraser Valley.
He was pulled over by a member of the Abbotsford Police Traffic Enforcement Unit around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.
The teen was clocked going 187 km/hr on Hwy 11 near Clayburn Road, a road with a posted speed limit of just 80 km/hr.
His Audi A3 even displayed an ‘N’ on the back while it raced down the highway at more than 100 km/hr over the limit.
“You may think you’re in control at these high speeds, but should you need to take evasive action, or react to another driver, you may find yourself unable to respond effectively. The results can be deadly,” said Sgt. Desi Sansalone.
The driver, who had a 17-year-old passenger in the car, was issued three demerit points, a $483 fine and he’ll have his driver’s license reviewed.
His vehicle was also towed and will remain impounded until July 11.
