A B.C. woman says that she had “front row seats” to an incredible wildlife encounter.
Marnie Robinson was able to captured video and photos of a cougar from her home in Port Alberni on Tuesday morning, and this big cat wasn’t alone.
The impressive creature had a deer in it’s clenches.
“I was shocked,” says Robinson. “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I felt so terrible for the deer, but it was amazing to watch and I feel very lucky that I had front row seats to such an incredible event, safely in my home.”
Robinson says the sighting happened on Springfield Road. She sent a photo of the cougar to her husband while it was happening and he called the BC Conservation Service. There was no need for them to attend the area due to the sighting though.
They were told that there was no need to get involved as the cougar left with its kill, acting as it should.
“I have never seen a cougar before, and I haven’t seen it since,” says Robinson.
