The search for Dr. Tracy Pickett has come to a tragic end.
Police say the 55-year-old’s remains were discovered in Vancouver’s Southlands neighbourhood on Thursday.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) launched a missing persons investigation in connection to Pickett’s disappearance on Tuesday.
It sparked a widespread search for the missing doctor throughout Pacific Spirit Regional Park and the Dunbar area.
Pickett had been in the news throughout September, as she was an expert witness in Ibrahim Ali’s ongoing murder trial.
However, despite the connection to the high-profile case, police say her death is not considered suspicious at this time.
“At this stage of the investigation, Tracy’s death does not appear to be the result of a crime and there is no public safety risk,” said a VPD statement.
The VPD will work with the BC Coroners Service, who will determine Pickett’s cause of death.
