A community in B.C. has renamed a park in honour of a beloved local man who was killed in a landslide.
Roy Sharp Community Park, formerly the Robinson Creek Community Park, is dedicated to 76-year-old Roy Frederick Sharp, who was reported missing after a landslide enveloped the man’s home on Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road in Tappen on May 6, 2017.
The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) Board Chair Rhona Martin, Shuswap MLA Greg Kyllo, along with friends and family gathered today to remember Sharp yesterday at the newly named park.
The beautiful location is about 80 metres wide by 80 metres long. Amenities include a vault toilet, picnic benches, a memorial bench, parking and a wheelchair friendly trail.
This is a great place to enjoy a picnic or the beautiful lake, and to remember the lost community member.
