Cops For Kids wraps up another year of supporting BC families

Following a 10-day journey across southeastern British Columbia, the 27 members of the Cops for Kids cycling team have made it to the finish line in Kelowna.

The group departed from the Central Okanagan on Sept. 6, and over the course of the ride, the group travelled 1,000 kilometres through 29 communities —all the while raising funds for youth in medical, physical or traumatic crisis.

The funds garnered will specifically go on to support youth with certain medical needs that may not be covered such as, transportation for distant medical treatment, medical supplies, learning tools, mobility aids and specialized therapies.

“As the Ride approaches its 20th year, we as riders grow stronger and more passionate about this cause,” said ride captain Julio Krenz.

“We want the families and communities to know that we are here for them, we won’t stop riding and will continue to give 100% of ourselves to make our communities a better place.”

After visiting supportive crowds and grateful families in Kamloops, Creston, Nelson and more, the tired riders are now home and set to return to their regular policing duties this week.

While the staple Cops for Kids event has wrapped up for another year, the organization will continue to raise funds. To find out more about how you can get involved with supporting the cause, visit www.copsforkids.org.
