Mounties in Squamish are investigating a series of incidents involving local youths, who are reportedly kicking at residential and commercial doors in the community.
According to the RCMP, the youths in question are wearing balaclavas and riding e-bikes as they travel throughout Squamish “causing property damage and alarm residents.”
S/Sgt. Gareth Bradley says police take this type of behaviour very seriously and are working diligently to identify the culprits.
“These incidents are not only causing financial harm to property owners but are also creating fear and frustration within our community,” he explained.
While the RCMP says several youths allegedly involved in these activities have been caught thanks to the help of concerned citizens, investigations are ongoing and further enforcement action may be necessary.
“Police remind parents and guardians to speak with their children about the consequences of such behaviour,” an RCMP release notes. “While some may view it as a prank, the damage and distress caused can have serious repercussions.”
The RCMP is urging anyone with information to contact the Squamish detachment at 604-892-6100.
