Motorcyclist dead following hit-and-run in southern BC

A person is dead and police are looking for answers following a fatal hit and run in Burnaby on Saturday night.

According to RCMP, at 9:45 pm, officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle at Canada Way and Imperial Street.

The motorcyclist was not dead at the scene, though they later died in hospital.

“This is a very tragic incident that has not only taken a life, but will affect countless individuals,” said Cpl Mike Kalanj. “If you can assist us in our investigation, please come forward and contact the Burnaby RCMP.”

Initial investigation suggests that the suspect vehicle rear-ender the motorcycle before fleeing.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the event or had dashcam footage of the area between 9:30 and 10 pm to come forward. Those who do should contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
