Mounties say hiker missing in BC wilderness was seen riding dirt bike before disappearance

Mounties have provided an update about their search for a hiker missing in the BC wilderness.

Sam Benastick was last seen on Oct. 7. He was supposed to return from a camping trip in Redfern-Keily Park in the Northern Rockies on Oct. 17.

Search teams from across the province have been dispatched to help find Benastick.

In an update released on Sunday, police said they have determined that the hiker was last seen at a trailhead at the Redfern Lake area.

He then began using a red Honda dirt bike, police explained.

Anyone with information about Benastick “or someone riding a similar red dirt bike” is urged to call police at 250-774-2700.
