Over 44% of eligible adults in BC have received a COVID-19 booster shot

Health officials in British Columbia reported another 1,446 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.

There are now 32,468 active cases in BC and the province’s test positivity rate continues to be level at around 22%.

The number of COVID-positive people in hospital dropped two since Monday, to 985, but the number of COVID-positive people in intensive care jumped by 15 to 144.

After the province reported 24 COVID-19 deaths over the weekend, there was just one over the past 24 hours, which brings BC’s pandemic death toll to 2,554.

There were no new healthcare facility outbreaks declared today and one in Vancouver Coastal Health was declared over for a total of 63 active in BC.

Since the province’s vaccination program began in December 2020, there have been 10,506,471 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in BC.

The booster campaign continues to chug along, as 44.2% of eligible adults have now received their third shot, while 90.4% have two doses and 92.9% have a single dose.

For those 12 and up, 92.6% have a single dose of vaccine, 89.9% are considered fully vaccinated with two doses and 41.3% have now received their booster.

For all eligible British Columbians, which is those five years of age and up, 89.6% have received one dose and 83.6% have got both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
