The RCMP made an arrest recently after executing a search warrant that resulted in the discovery of an illicit lab with volatile chemicals and cannabis extract.
On Nov. 14, 2018, members of the Chilliwack RCMP Drug Section of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment (UVRD) Crime Reduction Unit, with the assistance of the RCMP Clan Lab Enforcement and Response Team (CLEAR) executed a Search Warrant under Section 87 of the Cannabis Act at a warehouse on Harvard Place in Chilliwack.
A man in his 20s was arrested at that location for Illegal Production Using Chemicals to Alter Cannabis under Section 12(1) of the Cannabis Act. Police located and seized extraction equipment, butane, propane, approximately 250 lbs of dried cannabis and about 30 lbs of cannabis resin/oil.
“The use of these volatile chemicals pose a significant risk to the neighbouring tenants of this warehouse,” said Superintendent Bryon Massie, the officer in charge of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment. “The officers of the UFVRD will continue to work within new and existing legislation to ensure the safety of our community.”
If you have any information about this incident or other illicit activities, you can contact the Chilliwack RCMP at (604)792-4611 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
