RCMP officer knocked to the ground by fleeing motorcyclist in North Vancouver

An RCMP officer was knocked over by a fleeing motorcycle driver on Saturday afternoon.

The driver – on a black sport motorcycle – was flagged down by police at about 2:50 p.m. on Hwy 1 west of Westview, North Vancouver.

The motorcyclist initially stopped before accelerating, hitting the officer to the ground and then fleeing.

Police said he fled westbound on Hwy 1.

The officer struck by the motorcyclist was taken to Lions Gate Hospital with minor injuries.

RCMP are now searching for the driver and ask that anyone with information call (604) 985-131.
