What is believed to be a rare deep sea fish was found recently on the shores of BC.
A large, bizarre looking fish was found in Whiffen Spit Park in Sooke on Sept. 18, 2020.
A local business, Tugwell Creek Honey Farm and Meadery, posted about the fish saying that it may be a King of the Salmon.
King of the Salmon is a species of Ribbonfish, and is known to grow up to 1.8 metres, or six feet long.
The fish is usually found living up to 500 metres deep, so it isn’t very often that one washes up on our shores.
