Charges have finally been laid in connection to the high-profile disappearance and death of Trina Hunt.
Investigators just marked the solemn anniversary of the Port Moody woman’s disappearance on Jan. 18. Her body was found over 100 kilometres away in Hope on March 29, 2021.
Today, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced that the BC Prosecution Service has approved charges against Hunt’s husband.
Iain Hunt, 52, has been charged with one count of indignity to human remains.

According to IHIT, this charge is laid when a person neglects to perform their legal duty to bury a dead human body, or if a person interferes in an improper, indecent or undignified way with a dead body or human remains.
“The laying of a charge does not dilute the loss and pain endured by Trina’s family and friends. There is still a long road ahead as the community continues to heal from her tragic death,” said Sgt. Freda Fong, IHIT.
“However, today’s outcome is the result of the persistence and dedication by the investigators who were committed to seeing the case through and we must acknowledge this is a step forward as the court process begins.”
It was Iain Hunt who reported his wife missing on Jan. 18, 2021. He was arrested at their Port Moody home in July 2022, but quickly released without charges.
IHIT says it will not be releasing any further information at this time as the case is now before the courts.
Trina Hunt was 48 years old at the time of her death. You can learn more about her case here.
