However, the fire is now classified as “held” after it burned approximately 31,602 hectares.

The lightning-caused fire was discovered on July 2, approximately 2 kilometres north of Big Bend Arm.

The Cutoff Creek wildfire continues to be estimated at 31,602 hectares.
However, BCWS received significant rainfall over the weekend and crews continue to build guard near structures.
There are 38 firefighters, 23 pieces of heavy equipment and six helicopters assigned to this fire today.
An expanded evacuation alert was issued and replaced the previous order issued by the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako.
Effective Monday, Aug. 23 the Tentfire Creek and Pine River wildfires were no longer considered fires of note.
The 3,148 hectare Tentfire Creek wildfire is located southwest of Tumbler Ridge.
The Pine River wildfire, located near the community of Lemoray, was held at 2,542 hectares.
Significant rainfall was observed on both fires over the weekend.

The Tentfire Creek wildfire grew to an estimated 3,148 ha – up from the 2,800 ha that was reported since early August.
There are 22 firefighters and three pieces of heavy equipment assigned to this blaze today.
Today, BCWS implemented an area restriction for the area to protect the public and support suppression efforts.

The Grizzly Lake wildfire, located east of the Cutoff Creek fire, is still under control at 4,891 ha. There is one firefighter monitoring this fire.
The Tentfire Creek wildfire is still burning out of control at 2,800 ha. This fire is southwest of Tumbler Ridge. There are 21 firefighters, two helicopters and three pieces of heavy equipment on site.
The Helmut/Kotcho Lake wildfire, northeast of Fort Nelson, is now being held at 79 ha. There are four firefighters assigned to this fire today.

The Churn Creek Protected Area wildfire, northwest of Clinton, also grew significantly. It is now estimated at 7,225 hectares – a 247 hectare jump. This is a modified response fire that BC Wildfire Service will continue to monitor and respond to if necessary.
The Big Stick Lake wildfire experienced a bit of growth and is now estimated at 7,195 ha – a 150 hectare jump.
DriveBC is not reporting that Highway 20 is closed due to this fire. There are 77 firefighters, four helicopters and 12 pieces of heavy equipment on scene.
The Young Lake wildfire, 35 kilometres southeast of 70 Mile House, is still estimated at 6,937 ha. There are 35 firefighters, one helicopter and five pieces of heavy equipment on site.
(UPDATE: AUG. 9 @ 6 pm) – Fire activity on the Prince George and Cariboo wildfires of note has remained stable and minimal over the weekend.
The PG fire centre still only has four wildfires of note with 61 total active fires.

The Grizzly Lake wildfire was discovered on July 10 and was caused by lightning. This fire is also being held at 4,891 hectares.
The Tentfire Creek wildfire is burning out of control at 2,800 hectares. This fire is located on the Murray forest service road, southwest of Tumbler Ridge. It was also caused by lightning.
The Helmut/Kotcho Lake wildfire is a new wildfire of note. It was discovered Aug. 1 and is part of a cluster of fires caused by lightning. This fire is burning out of control at 15 hectares, located 35 km northeast of Kotcho Lake.

The Purdy Lake wildfire continues to burn at 8,100 hectares. This fire was discovered July 5 east of Prudy Lake. It was caused by lightning. As of Aug. 6 it will no longer be considered a wildfire of note.
The Big Stick Lake wildfire is burning out of control at 7,045 hectares. The cause of this fire remains under investigation. It was discovered on July 2.
The Young Lake wildfire is still burning at 6,937 hectares. It was caused by lightning and discovered on June 30.
The South of Canim Lake wildfire was also discovered on June 30 and caused by lightning. It is being held at 3,026 hectares.
The Mckinley Lake wildfire continues to burn out of control at 1,835 hectares. It was also discovered on June 30. The cause remains under investigation.
The Churn Creek wildfire is a new wildfire of note. It was discovered July 2 but was a modified response fire that BC Wildfire Service has been watching for over a month. This lightning-caused fire is burning at 4,500 hectares.

Two of the nine wildfires of note in the Cariboo fire centre will no longer be considered wildfires of note. All fires in this fire centre saw minimal growth this week.
Here are the latest updates on those fires:
Cutoff Creek is burning at 21,500 hectares and is now being held. Crews continue to find and extinguish hot spots and establish control lines.
The area restriction for Black Pine (16,314 hectares) has been rescinded, effective July 20. This fire is not a threat to structures.
The Mount Porter wildfire has not seen any growth this week and continues to burn at 14,932 hectares.
The Forres Mountain wildfire has also not seen any significant growth this week and remains at an estimated 8,700 hectares.
The Klawli Lake wildfire (6,231 hectares) has not seen any growth since July 13. It is not an interface fire but is still considered to be burning out of control.
BCWS reported that the Grizzly Lake wildfire is now 100% guarded. This fire saw a small amount of growth and now sits at 4,891 hectares.
The Tentfire Creek wildfire (2,400 hectares) and the Camsell Lake wildfire (300 hectares) are both being held. All evacuation notifications for the Camsell Lake wildfire have now been rescinded.

(UPDATE:July 14 @ 3:00 pm) – The Prince George Fire Centre now has 61 active fires and seven wildfires of note. All wildfires were caused by lightning.
The largest remains to be the Cutoff Creek fire which is now burning at 10,129 hectares.
The second largest is still the Mount Porter wildfire which is burning out of control at 6,345 hectares.
The evacuation alerts from the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako for the areas affected by both these two wildfires remain in place.

The Chilako Wildfire is no longer considered a wildfire of note and was being held at 1,451 hectares as of July 13.

The Black Pine wildfire is still burning at an estimated 5,000 hectares.
The Forres Mountain wildfire is still burning out of control at 2,700 hectares.
The Tentfire Creek fire has not seen any new growth from the 1,000 hectares reported on July 9.
The Camsell Lake wildfire (188 hectares) is a new wildfire of note. It was discovered on July 10 and was caused by lightning. There is an evacuation order in place for the northern part of Stuart Lake effective July 13 at 8:30 pm.
Active fires in the Cariboo Fire Centre has gone down to 64 with seven fires of note, five of which were caused by lightning and two are under investigation.
The largest wildfire remains to be the Purdy Lake wildfire which has grown to 5,000 hectares.
The second largest wildfire burning in the area is now the Big Stick Lake wildfire which is burning at an estimated 4,000 hectares. This fire has caused the closure of Highway 20, visit DriveBC for information on the area affected.
The fire SW of Deka Lake wildfire saw no growth since July 12 and is no longer considered a fire of note.

The Flat Lake wildfire grew to an estimated 2,000 hectares. Read this link for more information on the evacuation alert in place.
The Mckinley Lake wildfire is a new wildfire of note. This fire was discovered June 30 and its cause is under investigation. This wildfire is burning at an estimated 2,000 hectares.
The South of Canim Lake wildfire saw growth up to 1,753 hectares on July 13. However, this fire has gone down to an estimated 1,651 hectares. An evacuation order has replaced the alert. Visit cariboord.ca for more information.
The Hotnarko Creek wildfire is also a new wildfire of note which was discovered on July 3 and was caused by lightning. This fire is currently burning at an estimated 1,500 hectares. The Succour Lake wildfire remains the smallest wildfire of note at an estimated 528 hectares.

(Original Story: July 12 @10:12 am) – The Prince George Fire Centre currently has 59 active fires and seven are wildfires of note and all are suspected to have been caused by lightning.
The largest wildfire is the Cutoff Creek fire (G41269) which is burning at 9,500 hectares.
The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako issued an expanded evacuation alert, effective July 9, 2021 at 18:00 (6:00 pm).
The second largest fire is the Mount Porter wildfire (G61192) which is burning at 6,345 hectares.
The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako issued an evacuation alert at 6 pm on July 8 for the area northwest of Germansen Landing and southeast of Manson Creek.

The Klawli Lake wildfire (G61132) is estimated to be burning 1,450 hectares.
Tentfire Creek fire (G71138) has grown from 915 hectares to 1,000 hectares since July 9.
The Cariboo Fire Centre has 71 active fires, seven which are wildfires of note and six were caused by lightning while the cause of the North of Big Stick Lake fire is still under investigation.
The BC Wildfire website explains that the Churn Creek Protected Area wildfire will no longer be considered a wildfire of note at the end of the day July 12.

The largest fire is the The Purdy Lake wildfire (C11491) which was caused by lightning and is burning at an estimated 2,250 hectares.
There is currently an evacuation alert in place for properties near Titetown and Nazko north area.
The second largest is the South Canim Lake wildfire (C41100) at an estimated 1,640 hectares and was caused by lightning and is considered to be an interface fire.
