VIDEO: Bear stuck in garage in BC tries to claw its way out

A bear that became stuck in a BC homeowner’s garage is going to have some significant damage to repair.

Coquitlam RCMP shared a video this week of a bear who became stuck in a garage and attempted to paw its way out.

“You never know what the day will bring,” police said.

Officers were able to help the “furry intruder” escape through a side door.

The animal returned to the forest where it belongs.

Police also took the chance to remind people of some important bear safety tips, such as keeping attractants secured.

The police are called in wildlife situations only if the bear, or animal poses a public safety risk.

If you see a bear that is going about its regular bear business, such as walking through your yard, trails, or open park spaces, just leave it alone and don’t cut off its escape path.

“It is normal for bears to roam through urban areas, especially as development encroaches on wild space,” the RCMP said.
