Digital currency will evolve, says Jeff Cox

Once again, regular guest Jeff Cox is back with Rick Maddison on this episode of Rick and Friends – and this time, they share their thoughts on several current topics in Canada such as the current airline cancellations, skilled labour shortages and cryptocurrency.

Cox discusses his recent plans to travel abroad over the Christmas holidays with his family. Unfortunately, despite having the trip planned for over a year, his flight was cancelled just before they headed to the airport.

After several hours of trying to reach the airline over the phone, he was told five out of the twelve of his family members were able to fly to the destination in a week's time, which was not ideal at all.

He expressed that airlines need to give people reasonable options and be more prepared during the winter months.

Maddison and Cox also touch upon the need for more skilled immigrant workers to fill labour shortages but recognize that many immigrants are faced with barriers preventing them from moving. Inevitably to help boost Canada's economy, things need to change.

Cox reflects on the increasing use of digital currency and says “cryptocurrency and digital currency will evolve and be part of our system.”

They also discuss government interventions to help save the planet such as taxing people per litre of gas and promoting paper straws. However, Cox feels that these actions are somewhat inadequate and that Canada could be doing things more efficiently.

He suggested rather than importing our fruit and vegetables, which increases our carbon footprint, we should sell our locally grown goods.

He also questioned why we export our oil from poorer countries, which typically exploit their workers when we could import our oil from Alberta and ship it across Canada through pipelines.

To hear more from Cox and his views on some more debatable topics including gun rights and what shapes political opinions, tune in to the full episode.
