On this episode of Rick and Friends, Rick Maddison sits down with red seal chef Travis Pye!
Pye is the operations manager and executive chef of Lakehouse Home Store, which sells gourmet kitchenware and offers cooking classes.
He explains that “people are re-finding their love for cooking.”
Pye utilizes his culinary experience and expertise to assist people with their cooking questions.
He has worked as a chef in various establishments from chains to hotels, and also attended culinary school in Ottawa.
Maddison and Pye discuss the reality of being a chef, including the long hours, hot kitchens and lack of free personal time. Nevertheless, Pye's passion for cooking still stands strong. His current job enables him to have flexibility and time during the evenings and weekends.
Pye is also a board member of the Downtown Kelowna Association in which he works alongside like-minded people who are invested in the success and growth of downtown Kelowna.
As a worker in downtown Kelowna, Pye sees issues such as homelessness and high rental rates daily. He expresses that one association cannot solve all problems and unity is needed across the province to help combat the issues.
