Starting next week, motorists will see some delays while driving through the Mission.
Those delays will be thanks to construction on Phase 1 of the Kelowna Integrated Water Project.
Installation of a water main starts on Gordon Drive, between Frost Road and Steele Road, begins on Monday.
There will still be two lanes of traffic, as the northbound traffic will be shifted to the median, and travellers shouldn’t see delays of more than 15 minutes.
Work on Chute Lake Road, between Upper Mission Drive and South Crest Drive, will begin on Thursday.
Unlike Gordon Drive, Chute Lake Road will be closed as a result of the work and a detour will be in place via Lark Street to Okaview Road.
Bikers and pedestrians will be detoured through Chute Lake Crescent.
Work on both of these areas of the Mission is anticipated to be completed in September.
Further construction on Frost Road and Gordon Drive, between Steele Road and Paret Road, won’t begin until late August.
Construction hours are weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., however, some work may occur outside of regular construction hours.
