UPDATE: Vehicles cleared from ditch off Hwy 97 in Oyama, driving conditions improved

(UPDATE: Dec. 3 @ 10:55 am) - AIMRoads says the vehicles in the ditch off Hwy 97 near Gatzke Road have been cleared.

With the temperature now above freezing, the driving conditions are certainly better than they were this morning as well.

(Original story: Dec. 3 @ 9:20 am) - It’s a beautiful, sunny December day in the Okanagan, but it’s still below freezing.

That’s led to icy conditions on Hwy 97 near Oyama and a reader has informed NowMedia that it’s proving to be treacherous.

There are reportedly at least three southbound vehicles in the ditch around Gatzke Road and emergency crews are on scene.

However, the highway remains open at this time.

AIMRoads confirmed the “motor vehicle incident” on Twitter, stating that an assessment was currently in progress.

NowMedia will update this story as more information becomes available.
