My name is Lauren Runge, I am from Prince George, BC. I was born in 100 Mile House and moved to Prince George four years ago to attend university. I am currently in my fourth year at UNBC in the Wildlife and Fisheries program. I live for weekend trips around Prince George for fishing or skiing, and I am always scouting out new territory to explore.
Why do you use Instagram?
I use Instagram to show my friends and family what I am up to with my photos, to interact with other like-minded people using the app, and to find inspiration for new adventures!
What will people see on your feed?
When people see my feed they will get a healthy dose of fly-fishing, Northern BC landscapes, and a little bit of skiing and snowmobiling (depending on the season).
Does your page have a specific style?
I wouldn’t say I have a style necessarily, but there definitely is a common theme to my page which is fly fishing. Most of my photos are from places where I was fishing or of fish I have caught. Fly fishing has taken me to some of the most beautiful places I have ever been, although my photos often don’t quite capture the full beauty of them.
Favourite Instagram accounts to follow?
My favourite accounts to follow are katywat, (who is also from Prince George and is a huge role model for me),backroadmapbooks (because they feature a lot of great photos and adventure tips), and carchicoa (which is an abbreviation of Caribou Chilcotin Coast, and they post a ton of great stuff from where I am from.)
How do you decide on your location for shoots?
I decide where to take pictures wherever I am adventuring that weekend! This is often weather dependent, I like to follow the sunshine.
Biggest Instagram moment?
My biggest Instagram moment was when backroadmapbooks reposted a photo of mine. It was a really beautiful rainbow trout that I had caught and was in the midst of releasing.
Favourite hashtags?
My favorite hashtags are: #gofishbc # hellobc #flyfishing
