My name is Tamra. After a lot of years away, the interior called me home again about five years ago. I dreamed about a little homestead and a bunch of dogs and Kamloops was where I found both. Not long after I discovered my love of photography. For me, photography is a way of capturing forever this beautiful place I get to call home and the wonderful people I get to share it with. Though I also admit to having an embarrassing amount of photos of my dogs, Tikka and Sequoia.
Why do you use Instagram?
Instagram is this incredible place where I get to share all the moments of my little world. I’m constantly amazed by the incredible support from absolute strangers who are inspired enough by my photos to press that little heart and show their love. The creativity I see from other photographers constantly challenges me and pushes me towards new ideas.
What will people see on your feed?
Mostly, my world of chasing sunrises, hunting wildflowers, hiking big spaces and running sage brush lined trails with my girls. Sometimes, reluctant cameos of my favourite adventure buddy, my awesome husband. And other times, adventures with the brother or around the farm. It’s really a smattering of all the things that I love and expert use of a 10 second timer.
Does your page have a specific style?
My brother described my style as “pensive and hopeful”. I don’t know what that means exactly. I try to capture how I feel that day with what I see. There are so many small things every day that we forget to appreciate. So maybe my style is a little bit quiet reflection meets happy exploration.

How do you decide on your location for shoots?
I head out the door and see where the road or my feet take me. Having a place to myself for a little while is amazing so I tend to go out in the early morning or late in the evening if I’m staying in the Kamloops area. Mostly, I choose mountains and places where I can let my girls roam free. I love finding quiet, remote places where you feel like you are truly alone in the wild.
Biggest Instagram moment?
My biggest moment was being offered the opportunity to work with Tourism Kamloops to promote hiking in the area because they liked my feed. It was a great experience. It’s been pretty cool to see my photo get over 5,000 likes.
