Wine touring with kids? Check out these local wineries

Whether you live in Kelowna or you’re visiting from out of town, visiting the local wineries is a popular activity for adults.

But what if you have kids-in-tow?

I’ve compiled a list of wineries that will satisfy the wino in you, while keeping your little one entertained!

A post shared by Sperling Vineyards (@sperlingvineyards) on

Sperling Vineyards

Keep your energetic kids happy at Sperling Vineyard’s playcentre while mom and dad relaxes with a glass of wine! Kids 12 and under can go on the swing, go down the slide, or try the climbing wall. Or go for a stroll through the vineyard labyrinth! The circular vineyard was also made into a 2.2km walk (if you walk each row) that has a picnic table in the middle.

Ancient Hill Winery

For kids who love airplanes, this is a great place to watch them land and takeoff from the Kelowna International Airport. Feel free to bring a few snacks! The parents can sip wine while enjoying the panoramic views of the valley, and the kids can have a quick bite at the picnic area that overlooks the runway. Cheese and crackers are also available the European-style wine shop for purchase.

Mission Hill Winery

You don’t have to go to a museum to learn about art. Seeing the pieces of art and the award-winning architecture at Mission Hill may help get your kids’ creative juices flowing. From its grand hand-chiselled entrance to its 12-storeys tall bell tower, future engineers and architects alike will appreciate walking around this winery.

The Hatch Winery

Garden games are a great way to spend an afternoon with the family. At Hatch Winery, families can get some friendly competition going at the picnic area with a game of bocce ball. Since the bocce space is limited, make sure you call ahead to confirm there is room if you have a large family.

Off the Grid Winery

This family-run winery is made for families! Come see the goats on the roof of the wine shop, and depending on when you visit, you might even get to interact with one of the goats. Every Wednesday between 1pm and 3pm, visitors young and old get to meet and greet one of the farm’s animals. I took Evan to Off the Grid recently, and he was introduced to Moet the Sheep.
