UBCO students from the UBC Okanagan Student Experience Office and Community Services Learning Program generously volunteered their time during reading break this past week. Students volunteered to help local charities through the Pushor Mitchell United Way Day of Caring Program.
More than 55 students donated over 200 hours.
Nonprofit organizations that received help were: CMHA Kelowna, Boys and Girls Clubs, Gospel Mission, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Living Positive Resource Centre, MCC Thrift Store, Pathways Abilities Society, and YMCA.
Projects included indoor cleaning, resource kit creation, painting and event support.
The Pushor Mitchell United Way Day of Caring is a unique opportunity for employees and students to support local non-profit organizations by completing a project that the non-profit might not otherwise have the manpower or resources for.
