Two people are dead and another is “seriously” injured following a plane crash on Vancouver Island.
Mounties in Tofino received a report of a plane crash on Thursday, shortly before 1 pm.
The crash happened on the runway at the Long Beach Airport, a news release says.
“Information is limited at this time but it appears that a small 6-seat aircraft may have suffered an engine fire during takeoff,” police say.
Two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene while the lone survivor was rushed to the hospital.
The Tofino RCMP are working with the Transportation Safety Board and BC Coroners Service to determine what caused the plane to crash.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Tofino RCMP at (250) 670-9612.
