Traditional pit cook demonstration to take place at Camosun College

There will be a traditional Pit Cook demonstration at Camosun College this week for students and guests.

The demonstration will be led by Eyēʔ Sqȃ’lewen, the Centre for Indigenous Education and Community Connections, in partnership with the Songhees and Tsartlip Nation.

The annual gathering takes place on Oct. 20 and 21, from 9 am to 3 pm at

The event is part of the 30 year anniversary of Eyēʔ Sqȃ’lewen, as well as Camosun’s 50th anniversary.

The Pit Cook demo includes teachings from Cheryl Bryce of the Songhees Nation, as well as a medicine walk with Della Rice-Sylvester from Cowichan. John Bradley Williams from Tsawout First Nations will host the event at Interurban campus.
