Victoria masseur charged with 9 additional counts of sexual assault

The Victoria police have provided an update into a case from earlier this year involving allegations of sexual assault against a masseur.

Ajesh Jacob, a 35-year-old Victoria man, was charged earlier this year with one count of sexual assault following a report in March of 2021 of an incident at a massage and reflexology business in the 700-block of Fort Street.

Nine additional charges of sexual assault have now been laid after an investigation by VicPD’s Special Victims Unit (SVU).

Ajesh Jacob, who goes by the name Sam, was employed as a masseur at that location at the time of the incident. SVU detectives arrested Ajesh Jacob on May 13.

Police said their investigation indicated that there were additional people who had yet to speak out and investigators asked for those with information to come forward in June, 2021.

Over the following months, SVU detectives investigated several additional allegations of sexualized violence involving Ajesh Jacob.

To date, Ajesh Jacob has been charged with ten counts of sexual assault, and the file remains under investigation.

“Special Victims Unit investigators want survivors of sexualized violence to know that we believe you,” the VicPD said.

If you have information about Ajesh Jacob and have not yet spoken to officers you are asked to call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1. To report what you know anonymously, please call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The VicPD said that there are many ways to report sexualized violence in addition to calling their non-emergency line.

You can report sexualized violence through your family doctor, a counsellor or the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre.

The Victoria Sexual Assault Centre also supports survivors directly and can assist you if you choose to report a sexual assault to police.
