The Victoria Royals have been cleared to resume team activities following five days in COVID protocol.
The team was put on pause by the league late last week after a number of players and staff had tested positive for COVID-19, causing four games to be postponed. They have since been given a clean bill of health, and will return to the ice this weekend for two games against the Kelowna Rockets on Friday and Saturday night.
The team will then head to Prince George for two games against the Cougars on Tuesday and Wednesday before returning home to host division rival Vancouver on Friday Jan. 21 and the US Division leading Everett Silvertips the following night, Jan. 22.
Victoria is one of five teams (Calgary, Kamloops, Prince George and Vancouver) cleared to return to play by the WHL today, which means all 22 teams are now able to resume their regular season schedules.
The Royals currently occupy eighth place in the Western Conference and fifth in the BC Division with a 12-14-4-0 record.
The team has not seen game action since Jan. 1 when they suffered a 5-2 loss to Kelowna. They will look for redemption against the Rockets in their first game in two weeks tomorrow night, puck drop is set for 7:05.
