The president of the host committee for the BC 55+ Games in Kelowna credits the empowerment of the individuals running each of the 30 sports for sorting out any problems and making the games a success.
We caught up with David Graham outside the pickle ball courts as the games continue.
"Better than imagined", said David Graham about how the games have been going, "I've got a bunch of directors wandering around looking for trouble and trying to find it and things are going so well, we're elated with the success so far."
He said he's glad, that he and his team have given the people the authority to solve issues that arise within their own sports.
"Not that there aren't problems," he acknowledged, "of course there are." Adding, "It's how we're solving those problems that really counts and the people that are empowered on the ground are solving them and the games are successful."
Participants will be celebrating at a street party Friday evening at the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
The closing ceremony is at 1:30 pm Saturday also at the Rotary Centre. The event was made possible thanks to the help of about 1,400 volunteers. A volunteer appreciation event is planned for Saturday evening to recognize their contribution.
