A selection of BC's best wines are lined-up against a group of the world's best to see how we rank.
It's the fourth annual Judgement of BC. Six of the province's top traditional method sparkling wines, and six of our top Bordeaux-style red blends will go head to head against wines widely recognized as among the best in the world.
It's happening at the Hotel Eldorado which is where we found wine expert and educator D.J. Kearney who played a big role in bringing the event together.
The Judgement of BC got it's inspiration from an event that shocked the wine world 42 years ago. That's when two California wines won at the Judgement of Paris. 39 wine professionals from Canada and as far away as the U.K. and Hong Kong do the judging.
The BC Wine Institute said the event will "...honestly assess the current state of grape growing and wine making in BC."
The results are expected later.
