Shelves have been left bare in some stores forcing retailers to repeatedly re-stock supplies of toilet paper in Kelowna. Worries about the spread of the coronavirus and fears that there may be a run on such products appears to be creating an actual run on the product.
Still, most people we spoke to Monday, are refusing to take part in the race to stock-up.
The stockpiling continued today, for some. One woman seen stuffing the back of a car explained it this way. "All these other ladies and gentlemen were running for toilet paper, and it made us run," she said. "I am doing it because I have an Airbnb," explained the woman she was with, "and I needed to stock up."
Outside London Drugs, a customer heading out with two 24 packs said she wasn't caught up in any rush. "No, but I'm just prepared," she explained. "We have some businesses and we need to cover."
Most people we spoke to about it find rush on toilet paper foolish and refuse to take part.
As of Monday morning, London Drugs had plenty in stock and Costco still had supplies, but the shelves at Walmart were bare.
