Weddings are all about romance and so is Valentines Day. Put them together, multiply that by 23 and you've got Kelowna4Love! Marriage Officiants Sue Cairnie and Sepideh Rezania are planning what you might describe as a mass-wedding on February 14th at Sandhill Winery. Donations are going to Kelowna Pride, but the cost is free and as we discovered in an interview here at KelownaNow, there are still spots available.
Organizers have produced their own video with all the event details. Cairnie points out Kelowna isn't the first place to do something like this. "It's kind of inspired by Love In the Square that happens in New York and Vancouver," she said. "It's just like anyone can show up and get married and we decided to do it, but take a more pop-up wedding style."
With all of those couples celebrating all at once it's expected to be a lively and fun atmosphere at the winery. "We're going to be feeling the love," said Cairnie. "It's just going to be a fun time. If anyone wants to show up and propose to someone, I'm not going to stop that either."
There will be live music, make-up artists, photography and even rings that people can borrow if they need them. The idea has people getting caught up in the romance of it all. Along with the 23 weddings, one couple plans to renew their vows after 22 years of marriage. Interested couples can sign-up by visiting the Kelowna4Love website.
