The City of West Kelowna has amended its Official Community Plan to permit carriage houses on specific properties in the city.
On September 29th, mayor and council adopted the amendment which will offer new housing choices for tenants and homeowners. The new permitted carriage houses will allow people to have increased opportunities for affordable housing in the community. There is a legalization process that all property owners must engage in to operate a carriage house.
Only one carriage house is permitted per property and appropriate zoning designations and parcel sizes are required.
