The West Kelowna Warriors suffered their fourth consecutive defeat Saturday losing 7-2 to the Powell River Kings at Hap Parker Arena.
The Kings started off strong scoring within two minutes of the game. Chase Dubois tied the game up for the Warriors at the 7.29 mark with a pass that ricocheted off a defender into the net.
However, a goal from Gavin River in the 11th minute put Powell River 2-1 ahead just as a penalty kill expired.
Carter Turnbull scored just 39 seconds into the second period, beating Demer on a breakaway to extend Powell Rivers’ lead to 3-1. Five minutes later Johnny Evans scored his second of the night, ending the game for the Warriors goaltender who switched out for Gabriel Morency and making it 4-1.
The goals kept coming for the Kings early in the third period, with Evans completing a hat trick at 1.29 mark and scoring a fourth at 7.03.
The Warriors pulled one back at the 9.05 mark, as Logan Mostat took advantage of his own rebound off the right pad of the Kings’ goaltender Brian Wilson to make the game 6-2.
The Warriors’ goal wasn’t enough to stop the Kings’ though as Carmine Buono extended Powell Rivers’ lead to 7-2 at the 14.47 mark.
The game ended 7-2 and wrapped up a dismal evening for the West Kelowna Warriors.
The Warriors (22-22-0-1) will be completing their three=game road trip with their final regular season matchup against the Chilliwack Chiefs (32-15-0-5) at Prospera Centre on Sunday evening. The puck drop is scheduled for 5.00pm with the pre-game to start at 4.50 pm on the Warriors Internet Network.
