Premier John Horgan calls by-election for Kelowna West

A date has been set for Kelowna West by-election.

Premier John Horgan announced today that the byelection for the Kelowna West electoral district has been set for Feb. 14.

There are three candidates running for the seat, which was left vacant when Christy Clark resigned in August.

After Clark won the seat by nearly 10,000 votes in the 2017 election, the early favourite in February is her replacement Ben Stewart.

Stewart is no stranger to the riding, as he was the MLA for Kelowna West from 2009 to 2013 and even won the seat in the 2013 provincial election.

He resigned from the seat shortly after the 2013 election to allow Clark, who had lost her own seat, to run in a by-election.

Stewart will be challenged by NDP candidate, Shelley Cook, and Green Party candidate, Robert Stupka.
