This week the community was relieved to hear about the return of Atlas the golden retriever after a Kelowna family witnessed a woman steal him from their yard.
A West Kelowna man suspects his dogs was taken in a similar fashion.
Gus was out on a walk with his owner John Brooke on March 4 in Upper Glenrosa. He says that Gus ran ahead of him for a moment with his other dog, but only one of them came back when called.
Brooke says that he saw tire tracks in the location where Gus was before he went missing.
Brooke says he has opened a file with the RCMP, and he’s been searching for Gus for the last two weeks. There have been a few sightings, including in Lake Country and at a bank in West Kelowna, where he was seen in an older SUV.
The bank did not have any footage, but Brooke says he has contacted a nearby liquor store and they are looking into it.
Brooke says that an individual also sent them a photo of a dog in someone’s yard, which he says he’s sure is Gus. However, he was unable to contact them to follow up on the location.
Gus is wearing a bright orange collar. He is white and has a curl in his tail. If you see him or know anything about his whereabouts, contact (250) 808-1473 or (250) 808-9495.
