West Kelowna’s Community Vision has won the top Community Excellence in Governance award from the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM).
The OurWK initiative was created thanks to community engagement that occurred from June 2020 to April 2021 in an effort to update the City’s Community Plan.
“Council and staff are humbled and honoured at the [...] recognition of the collaborative journey we went on with our residents to create our City’s first Community Vision,” said Mayor Gord Milsom.
The initiative has five main areas of focus:
People
Community
Adaptability
Prosperity
Places
The announcement was made during the UBCM’s annual convention which was held virtually from this Tuesday to Friday.
“Our Community Vision was a success because of our residents and stakeholders’ involvement and we are grateful for their contributions, earning this top honour for West Kelowna,” added Milsom.
